Our friend and super randonneur Steve Le Goff clued us in to a great juxtaposition to this month's North American Handmade Bike Show in Denver, namely a special unaffiliated exhibit by local framebuilders and bike experts taking place across the street, featuring both classic and new examples of the legendary René Herse and other models.
Mike Kone of Boulder Bicycle - who's joined us on brevets up to the 400km distance - sent these photos of craftmanship and elegance:
Most of us ride and excel on the bike that happens to suit us - whether it's a triathlon-ready Cervélo or a Zinn titanium, or in my case, a 1980's steel racing bike and 1990's carbon racing bike.
But we can all appreciate bikes like these. (And bikes like these, ridden with the right engine, have excelled at Paris-Brest-Paris up to the present time.)
Steve (here on the Lyons-Berthout populaire last March) worked on some of the vintage bikes for the show and will be there to add savoir faire and je ne sais quoi:
So if you have a chance, have a look and pay a visit to some great examples of framebuilding and artistry.
